loving, playful

sister to Cappuccino

you became the marker

for missing

in a matrilineal pod

of less than twenty

 

a noticeable question mark

of what might be

 

the scars of your youth

a mystery

 

Was it a prop

that took

five scrapes

of your dorsal

 

or the simple speed

and restless sound

of bitumen

 

perhaps a prawn trap

that set you to bleed

at less than

a teen

 

and then took you

 

your entire line

 

Infertile, afraid?
